What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is excessive perspiration or sweating.
How do you treat hyperhidrosis?
If you have mild hyperhidrosis you may be able to ease the symptoms using traditional medicines prescribed by your GP. If you continue to suffer from excessive perspiration, we can treat the problem by injecting Botulinum toxin type A into the overactive sweat glands. This blocks the nerves that supply the eccrine glands. This prevents the glands from producing sweat.
Which areas can you treat?
We can treat the armpits, hands and feet.
Will I stop sweating completely?
In the treated areas you will either see a reduction in your sweating or you will stop sweating completely for a few months. You will continue to sweat from non-treated areas. You will require repeat treatments every three to six months for maximum effect.
Will I see instant results?
It can take between seven and 14 days for the treatment to begin working.
Does it hurt?
We use very fine needles for the injections and most clients tolerate any discomfort well. We can apply a topical anaesthetic to the treatment areas.
Are there any side effects?
After treatment, the site may be a little painful and small bruises can form, but these symptoms go away within a day or two.
Is it safe?
Botulinum toxin type A is licensed in the UK for treating localised hyperhidrosis of the armpits. It presents no major harm to the body and is only active in the specific area where it is injected. It does not spread throughout the body.
